Job Description

Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing Michigan-based HR-related duties on a professional
level, supporting the plant and working with regional and corporate team members to ensure
alignment of, and compliance with, local and corporate goals and objectives. This position carries
out responsibilities in employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy
application/implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law
compliance.

Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
• Counsel employees and staff on employee relations issues/resolution
• Manage employee files both paper and electronic, including entering data into HR, payroll
and time and attendance systems timely to ensure employees are paid accurately and
on time
• Act as liaison between hiring managers and corporate recruiter to fill open salaried
positions
• Works with hiring managers to recruit, hire and retain hourly staff
• Conducts orientation and ensures full onboarding of all salaried and hourly new hires
• Coordinate and ensure government compliance reporting
• Manage hourly wage administration processes and recommend changes to ensure
compliance and equity within organization
• Review and recommend compensation changes for salaried employees to ensure
compliance and equity within organization
• Work with staff and employees to ensure compliance with performance management
processes and reviews
• Coordinate and/or conduct internal training and assist staff in identifying appropriate
external training to close skill set gaps or meet compliance requirements
• Works with plant and HR corporate management staff on organization design / structure
• Drive local talent management process and succession planning
• Ensure timely notification of employee changes to all appropriate parties
• Participate in administrative staff meetings and monthly employee meetings on all shifts
• Conduct regular meetings with leadership to exchange information and provide status
updates and problem resolution
• Disseminate/communicate HR-related policies and procedures
• Works with local environmental, health and safety coordinators and Regional EHS
Managers to achieve safety goals
• Contacts worker’s compensation administrator to open claims when injuries occur and
may also discuss open claims with administrator.
• Act as liaison between employees and benefit team to communicate and/or resolve
benefit matters
• Manage HR projects designed to maximize organizational effectiveness. as a team
member with HR staff on projects and continuous improvement in all areas of the HR
function
• Collaborates with headquarters personnel in relation to governmental reporting for
affirmative action plans and equal employment opportunity filings.
• Participates in other HR projects and initiatives, as assigned

Qualifications-Education/Experience
Required:
• Bachelor of Science in Human Resources or appropriate business discipline required
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively increasing responsibilities within Human
Resources in a manufacturing environment
• Experience working with bargained and non-bargained employees
• Experience implementing labor agreements
• Experience in organizational design and development
• Experience working effectively with all levels of the organization
• Excellent project management skills
• Able to drive change in processes and organization culture
• Able to perform effectively within budgetary guidelines
• Able to build strong and dependable teams
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
• Able to read, analyze and interpret complex documents
• Able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
• Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
Preferred:
• MS or MSA and/or PHR or SPHR Certification preferred
• Experience participating with union negotiations
• Experience with Google for Work
