Job Description

Contracts/Finance Specialist (18-08481) - Nashville, TN 37211 - 5+ months contract
Can only work on w2.
 
Manager Notes:
Daily responsibilities:
•             Someone who can review and Summarize the contracts is 90% of the job.
•             Exp using excel will be + and also open to new ideas.
•             Person will be looking at PDF contracts and reading through them.
•             Prefer a person to review the contracts in PDF.
•             No travel involved.
•             Overtime may be required (maybe-not much possibilities).
•             Possible extension of the project/contract.
•             Prefer a person should be from a financial Accounting background (procurement background is not required but will consider-secondary).
•             if someone has ASC 606 implementation experience will be preferred first and will be a perfect fit (nice to have).
•             Bachelor’s degree will be minimal education requirement.
•             Interview process: 30 minutes Phone interview and 60 minutes f2f interview.
Nice to have:
•             Someone who has a background with new revenue standard or new accounting standards in general.
•             CPA not required but nice to have
•             Will be sitting in some meetings with the manager
 
Role Purpose:
This position will support the implementation of the new revenue accounting standard [Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606 and International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 15] at Client on a temporary basis (around 4 months) by reviewing select client contracts, writing a summary thereof, and assessing the contracts for completeness. The incumbent will be instrumental to improving the efficiency of implementing this new accounting standard by assisting the Senior Manager apply the new accounting guidance to more contracts.
 
The incumbent will possess strong work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, decision making skills and ability to work with others. The position requires solid financial reporting and accounting experience combined with strong attention to detail. The incumbent must be able to read through large contracts and recognize important details which have accounting implications. The incumbent must be able to comprehend complex legal language and distill it down to the succinct plain-English meaning. The incumbent must be able to recognize when pieces of the contractual relationship are missing (e.g., an amendment or another contract that is referred to) and take responsibility for making sure they are retrieved, reviewed, and summarized.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•             Review voluminous client contracts and be able to identify information important to financial reporting and summarize this information succinctly but at a level of detail sufficient for the reviewer to understand the financial implications of the contract without needing to review the underlying contract.
•             Work closely with Sr. Manager with overall responsibility over ASC 606 implementation to develop the appropriate content and format of the contract summaries.
•             Ability to identify missing pieces of the contractual relationship with the client and follow up with appropriate contacts to retrieve.
•             Assist Sr. Manager with overall project management of the ASC 606 implementation
 
Requirements:
•             3 to 6 years of professional experience, with public accounting experience desired
•             Strong technical accounting skills
•             CPA preferred
•             Bright, self-starting, detail-oriented, focused individuals
•             Possess strong work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, decision making skills and ability to work with others
•             Strong written communication skills
•             Experience with ASC 606 or accounting standard implementation is a bonus
